Maybe true, but as a guy, who has fairly good features, this isn't always the case. I've given up on dating 'pretty' women because most are superficial. But what's worse, is when you date someone purely based on their personality, not for looks, and all of a sudden they feel validated - enough to do something stupid and then fuck you over. Breaks my heart man.
