Trending @Capgemini; On a bench form 2 years ! I’m quite worried about my future.
Hi,
I need some advice and suggestions as I’m quite worried about my future. I joined Capgemini at the end of 2022 and have been on the bench since then. I spend my time at the office socializing with colleagues and scrolling through reels. Whenever I come across something that resonates with me, I start learning about it on various platforms, but I often lose confidence and continuity after a few hours.
My concerns are heightened by my manager and colleagues' gossip regarding their highly packaged friends and connections, which demotvitated me as im not one of them. Despite my manager's promise to allocate me to a project and my efforts to train and assist him, he ended up giving opportunities to others from different locations. This situation has left me uncertain about my career path and learning strategy.
I come from a non-IT background and initially trained in C/C++. However, I was later moved to a training program in Embedded Systems for a few months, so i startedlearningabout this thing but skipped as the project was signed by the client. So, I also learned about basic electrical engineering and HVAC systems, as the project required this knowledge. In a call somewhere i see there is a requirement for IOT so my mind hits so I’ve been exploring Azure IoT and related fields again for few time, which I thought could be a good career move, so I enrolled in courses related to this. Additionally, a friend suggested learning Python for better future prospects, so I started that as well.
Despite these efforts, I still lack confidence and feel like I have no real skills or practical experience, just a monthly salary without a clear direction. I’m seeking guidance on how to navigate my career path and build a more secure future.
Thank you for your help.

It's quite a common thing in capg, try to get some project idea even if it's support project and try to switch, it will open new opportunities

Even they need experience guy for support project also so it's tough to convince management for support as well.

No what I am saying is that if any of your friend kr colleague is working on a support project just try to understand about it and switch

Hi @aExtrovert , it's really challenging here in Capgemini to get allocated to a project, I've also joined at the end of 2022.
Staffing Partners couldn't get a single project for any of us under them , they won't even coordinate and reply properly , ignoring messages and emails quite common for them or else they'll say we've forwarded your profile with the relevant client , once we'll get update on that will forward to you. So like this none of us got any calls from our staffing team , no HR contact , nothing and the worst is Location was Chennai , being from North India it sucks in lot many ways , if you've good friends then only little bit you can survive.
So I approached my friends already there in the project , and luckily from there got an opportunity to work.
So you can try: 1). apply on the job feed portal - connect through POC /project PSP Handlers name given there on teams and mail , mail them (My friends did it a lot, but yeah eventually they were saying it's not allowed to do - Can search & try)
2). Whoever you know currently in the project, send your resume there and ask for sharing that with their leads for any openings.(it can work)
3). Mail staffing partners that you find this relevant opportunity (Least chances it will work as I observed in my case).

Thanks for your advice.

I have gone through a similar situation like this. Have been on bench for the past 2yrs. But its ok…! Try upskilling and work on mini projects so that you will be able to explain what you did when you move out of the company..!

Thanks ! Will do it.
