Offer letter release

I was recently selected in an interview, and after that, the company asked about my current and expected salary. I shared both, and they acknowledged it without any issues. However, soon after, they requested my current payslip and offer letter from my existing organization. I provided those as well.

Immediately after submitting the documents, they mentioned there would be an additional round — an HR round — and some kind of “settlement” was discussed. This has left me confused and uncertain. By seeing TCS payslip do they think the gross ctc is not paid to me so they are trying to reduce the amount in the offer letter?

Is this a normal process before releasing an offer letter? Do most companies follow this approach?

No it's not normal to make the HR trying to bargain for a lesser salary by saying ur interview was not as expected
