Offer Decision - Goldman Sachs vs Microsoft
Got offers from Goldman Sachs(Associate) and Microsoft L60 SDE 1.
Total YoE: 3 years Experience in Java, Springboot backend development. Current Comp. 16 lpa base, 1.5 lpa stocks
Goldman sachs: Comp: 29 lpa base, 5-7 lpa bonus. Total Comp 35-37 Lpa Team and work: Blockchain related work
Microsoft: Comp: 21.5 lpa base, 40k USD stocks for 4 year. Total Comp around 30 lpa Team and work: Android dev around Copilot and other AI tools enhancements.
Should I go for GS considering frequent Layoffs at Microsoft? I am yet to negotiate more on the comp but wanted to decide which one to go for and then negotiate there.
What other factors should I take into account before deciding.? Any insider info or any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thanks in Advance

You would be getting a minimum of 7lac performance since it’s for associate, also try to ask for relocation bonus mentioning about you and your parents that adds another 2-3lacs, base can go upto 32-33 but it’s a bit difficult since you don’t have competing offers, All the best

Go for GS. No brainer.

Not sure about GS comp in general, but MS is def low balling you. 21.5 base and L60 for a 3 YOE, demn

Agreed. Gs is also giving the entry level comp for Associate role

GS is good on comp and options. Wlb is bad at finance but considering recent layoffs, microsoft is risky anyway

Wlb is bad at finance companies

Excessively low balled, even I was low balled at GS recently (3 yoe).

What is the correct pay then at the associate level?

Congrats.
I feel gs is better but tell me one thing. That gs team uses java?

Yes, some services are in java

Go for GS for sure, my GS days were the best.
From then have worked at Amazon and OCI etc.
Pure perfomance play at GS and given layoffs at Microsoft which is happening all random and politics based.
