Notice period for unallocated resource

I have joined TCS in Jan 2024 and since then I have been tagged to a project. But there was a layoff at client side so my onboarding was put on hold. Tried asking for release but I am not getting released from account due to some internal policies. So I have decided to resign and search outside.

Will they release me immediately as I am not having any client billing or I need to serve the 90 days notice period as usual ?

They'll ask for an early release. If you don't want early release then don't accept and serve 90 days. If they force you to accept early release then ask severance pay for notice period waive.
