Notice Period Clarification While on Bench

Currently, I am on bench. I would like to know, if I resign now, do I need to serve the full notice period or a shortened notice period? If a short notice period applies, how many days would it be? Also, if I choose to serve the full notice period, can I remain on bench and continue searching for external opportunities during that time?
