If possible try to take release from the project first and then resign.

There are ethical and unethical ways to achieve this in any organization. Ethically, you can request your manager to accept your resignation and give early release, he can do it if he doesn't see a business loss on early release. Other ethical way, is if you are in free pool, ask for early release and HR accepts normally. One more ethical way is to negotiate your availability leaves with your HR/Manager or buy back your working days, if they accept. Now coming to unethically avoiding notice period. After resigning, you can make an excuse that you have got some medical issue, like severe eye problem and cannot work anymore, so can't come to office and rather you can join the new company. You can simply stop coming and stop taking manager's call and they will mark you absconding in the system and relieve with immediate effect. Take a screen shot of application where you put resignation and keep it with you. Once you have resigned there is least they can do, so you can misuse your power.
