My friend got notice 2 days back for this year and has been asked to submit documents for the all the claims and deductions.

Actual investment made: 80C of 1.5 lakhs only

Investments he showed while filing: HRA of 80k rent per month, 80D max, House loan of 2.5 lakhs, Donation of 1 lakh, NPS of 50k.

He not only to has to pay additional tax with fines but is also under the Income tax radar.

I have valid proof for everything I am filing for, the only issue is the city I am claiming HRA for is not my work city

1 lakh as in upto some amount you don't have to show proof for hra right. Are they asking now for everything

8.3k per month and 1 lakh annually.

Above tht, proof needs to be shown but wasn't enforced much, now it's being changed.
