Not liking BLR :(

Not sure why but I am not liking BLR, its been over 5 months now but it feels like a place of fake people trying to act cool, the actual cool people are far smarter and more humble and humanly. Even if i try to surround myself with the smart ones, but when your team is shit you don’t have a lot of choices. Another caveat is i have made 2 switch very recently one company within a year and this is 5 months, so switching will not look good for my career and there is no guarantee the new company will fit. Every thing in terms of money, learning etc is good but people think is bothering me!! Am I overthinking, or is it normal?

P.s: Native People are far far better, even though there is a language barrier!

It is Normal!

There are some cities you like instantly, and some that grow on you. As somebody who's stayed here for decades, advice is to not overthink and enjoy. Step out of the house and indulge in things outside of work. Pursue passions and meet new ppl! stop putting pressure to surround yourself with "smart" ppl. Maybe they're not that smart after all if you're getting bored! My best friends are doctors or folks who are in business and are fun to hangout.

And I'm not sure what you mean language barrier with local folks! 😉 I mean pretty sure you can talk in English with your colleagues or friends you are born and brought up here and they can suggest and help you around! I know ppl will shit on this but approach it with an open mind and don't put pressure on yourself!

Well said, I am trying the same, but it feels like there is a constant pressure on me to be like others. Let’s see if this city grows on me or not!

I agree, food here is way worse than North India other than dosa

Even dosa is not that good. I have a Madras cafe in my hometown, they make far better dosa than most Bengaluru restaurants.

Focus on yourself and understanding what you like as a person, learn to enjoy your own company and do not try to fit in. At the end of the day everyone is looking for acceptance, so be open to meeting people and learning about different cultures. Bangalore is a beautiful city and the people you will meet here have a mix of all cultures, states, mindset’s etc so be patient and observe and absorb first, take each day as it comes.

That’s fine. Is this the first time you are relocating out of your hometown? It took me a while to adjust as well. I’d run back home every single opportunity that I got.
