Not enjoying my work

I am not enjoying job as I used to enjoy studying because -

A. I am not deepening my knowledge or mastering something

B. I am not experimenting or innovating

I like the aspect that my work directly impacts real world but because of above two reasons I am not feeling excited. Is the scenario same for all the companies? Should I go for a phd? Should I keep patience until i reach senior position?
