Not all 'brain drain' returns are good news - 9,900% hike - H1B Visa!
Some are celebrating it as a move that will stop brain drain and bring talent back to India.
My perspective is slightly different - Top global companies will still pay the premium to retain exceptional talent in the U.S.
It is the average or below-average talent that will return to India.
This sudden influx will intensify competition here, making it harder for average professionals to sustain and even more difficult for freshers to secure opportunities.
Instead of solving the brain drain problem, this could widen the talent imbalance in India’s job market.
The real question is: Are we prepared to absorb this wave of returning professionals in a way that strengthens - not squeezes - our talent ecosystem?

Honestly, I agree. Most H1B returns are not some big brain gain. From what I saw, many people on H1B are not top innovators. Many are just regular engineers who got through the system. If they come back, India does not suddenly get many world class people - it is just more competition for the same jobs.
I know engineers in Bangalore who are just as skilled as the ones in San Francisco. The difference is that the San Francisco people usually had the money to do an MS abroad and get a job there. Companies are not flying in geniuses; they just went because they could.
With AI and automation increasing, many of those jobs probably get redundant anyway. Instead of solving brain drain, we just end up with more people fighting for fewer roles. The real problem is figuring out how to actually create opportunities, not just move talent around.

Ms people h1bs are not included. Only company issued h1bs are flagged. Mostly people in service based companies will be affected
My exact thoughts.
Most h1b folks are service based company folks.
Also this is effective only on re entry.

They are not returning...
That is only applicable for new Visa

Noone is returning, their h1b visa renewal charges are still the same
