NOC for property when you don't have documents?

Hey folks , anyone aware what's the procedure when you want to give a legal notice to a property for which you are a joint owner , but unfortunately you are not having original document , in this scenario how can we ensure the other party does not do any sort of misuse of property, I heart NOC should be the best approach, anyone having idea on this , pls share
