No promotion!!!

I was expecting promotion this year. Someone two years junior from me gor promoted, ps different team same manager. My manager told me I am very good technically but need to grow on other aspects, did not told me what are the other aspects. He told me they will promote me once the project I am working on ends and my performance is good. Disheartened!! Worked my ass off last year, took initiatives even though no support from the team.
