My batch colleagues have been promoted last month as we all joined together in jan 2023. Wny not everyone has been promoted together?
So everyone seems happy to blame the manager. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the industry as a manager I feel I can answer this question.
First of all, don't blindly blame the manager, as he isn't the owner of the company.
Second , understand that real market patterns have an impact on everything especially if you are in a European company.
In every promotion cycle The HR , finance and admin team release a certain number of promotion slots or no slots per grade depending on the situation of the market , number of projects in pipeline and other variables.
Only once we get the slots, the managers nominate you for promotion . If there are zero slots your manager cannot nominate for promotion at all.
Next, after nomination they decide who amongst all nominated fulfill other criteria like attendance , work from office, past 3 ratings, company certificates etc etc. if you are the best candidate considering everything , you will be picked by the HR team otherwise your nomination will not be considered.
