No one who enjoys their office?
Just curious.. a major reason I stop GV is people always cribbing about their office only sharing negative or bad stories.. which I understand - I did too. And frankly dukh baatne se kam hota and we all need a place to vent..
But what about your fun good moments? Why don't you share them too, well q ki khushiya baatne se badti hai.. (transl: happiness multiples..)
Now when I left my job.. I miss a few elements of office & some people too..

You bond with some people. Even in shitties env you meet some fun people with whom you can be chill.. I miss them. Its like going back to school without the strictness of it.. watching The same faces.. cracking jokes.. bearing the upper management.. eating together.. and everything in between.

I miss the travels I did with them for work.. every night was fun. Its literally living together for some weeks.. just like how cousins spend time.. we work more (ofc) along with a shitty time structure.. but definitely one of beautiful time I've spent.. playing games.. talking.. cracking jokes.. especially those interns lol they are truly innocent!

I miss the freedom, and responsibilities. Shipping products which are live and are being used by people.. especially helping those Biz folks.. nudging them to help themselves.. solving their problem.. Pro tip: always be kind to everyone.. especially your Biz folks.. don't be a pain in ass.. help them.. I enjoy their rants and their talks.. always stressed about way more things and secretly being grateful about my role..
Man, office is sometimes so fun. Sometimes cocky. But mostly adults figuring out what to do.
I had fair share of fun between the chaos and toxicity.. If you are senior - build a beautiful env.
I was lucky to be the one who shaped the env.. and I'm glad with newer people coming in.. it helps..
I'm glad for all my colleagues and I still talk with few of them.. ofc life changes.. but some becames part of it and it feels good.
So looks around.. all those colleagues around you.. some might be toxic.. some boot lickers.. but most are equally lost.. alone.. wishing for a better time.. be nice to them and have fun!!!
Work should be fun.. where else you wanna spend your majority of adulthood, huh?
Office is fun only when you don't work for a pay check.
When you struggle for 10-12 hrs a day only to hear you manager crib about how your performance is not at par, when you see you salary deducted in the name of taxes and the money being spent on worthless shit, and no matter what you do, good life seems always a step away from you.... No office is. Just a free air prison.
The elements you miss are because you know you are expecting to experience them in the near future. In medical terms this is called " memory fade".

Pre covid it was fun. I think till age of 28-30 our personality is such we can make new friends bonds right now i am 34 Life starts consolidating so office doesn’t seem so much fun now . Currently its escape from family driving my car though in traffic at least my choice of music occasionally a smoke like that
In my 10 years of Walmart, first 4 years I had very good managers who were technical. Now, I have managers who are clueless on everything . Staff and senior engineers are working as assistant mangers to sail them through
I do like my work. I work on simulation and geometry/CAD/CAE related development.
