No one from her office came to her funeral

It’s so tragic, what the mother must be going through! No amount of ‘Learnings/work pressure’ justify this!

It is a case of a manager mistreating her junior and simultaneously giving obvious lollipops that suffering leads to greatness and excellence. The girl being a new joiner fell to the the pressure and did not stand up for herself. Her statement that she would not get leave when she was in hospital shows the toxicity and should have alerted her parents. EY is the most toxic workplace of all Big4s. Her manager should be faced with charges for pushing someone beyond a limit. Absolute case of murder which will go down in the history as “someone succumb to work pressure”. Well no, she gave all cause the corporate took all. High time for employees/people to look beyond work/office and draw a big red line which we should never allow anyone to cross. I changed my team cause my previous manager expected me to work every weekend! And i did so. Then I realised.. why? She always used to say “these are your foundation years. You have to struggle”. Well, suffering does not lead to greatness. Understood this, and spoke to my Partner for team change. Now i am at peace. In corporates, more than growing/getting promoted, survival is essential (both literal and metaphorical). Devastating news for her parents who would have had million dreams and sad for the girl cause she did not stand up. RIP.

Her manager should have been held for abetment to suicide, though such toxic culture mostly drives top down. I wish cases like these makes Govt to sit up and take notice. They should create some regulations against such cases. And every suicide should make corresponding organisation and the managers to undergo pinpoint investigations. Shame on EY. Criminal idiots.

The day your company starts addressing you as resources in their “Excel” or in their planning is the day that they stop treating you as human beings and that’s a simple fact.

You become just another line item, a number to be allocated, shifted around, or optimized like any other asset.
