Trending @Accenture; No hike, no promotion. About to get an offer. Suggestion please??

Currently at L9. Been in this role since 4 years. From last 3 years no hike.

Got many good client feedbacks. No issues in deliverables. Also leading a team of 8 people and their deliverables. From last 1.5 years waiting for promotion. Always got feedback in every cycle as i will be getting the promotion. But when results are out, it's always setback. Same story of budget issues, not enough slots blah blah... I have a feeling that in future also the same will continue. It's a sad story that once a great company like Accenture turned like this.

Now i am about to get an offer next week from other company with 25% hike. Thinking to quit Accenture. Please suggest if i am taking the correct step. I am damn sure that they will give the carrot and say in next cycle they will definitely give the promotion with good hike. But good hike seems only 13% for promotees in recent years 😁.

Now I am in dilemma. 90% i want to leave. 10% still thinking to stay back(maybe because of comfort zone).

What you guys suggest?

Accept an offer, and prepare for counter offers. In the last month of notice period you can get counter offers.

25% hike is very low but accept the offer and resign, you can keep this offer as a backup.

Bro, same happened to me. No hike since 3 years, no promotion, I am 6.5 yrs experienced and still an analyst here. I got an offer of 30% hike, and so i resigned last Friday!! It’s necessary to move on when you are not valued where you are.

ASAP, I REPEAT ASAP be absolutely ruthless and stack money rather than comfort. Times are bad. And it is going to get worse. No body, I repeat, nobody has any direction in the organisation. Focus only on stacking Money. Pivot fast. And rise fast learn fast.

@ReflectingSlot Just to add to the above points from others:

You mentioned you have been in this role sonce 4 years. Not sure how if you already been more than 5 years in Accenture.

If not, and your Accenture overall experience is also 4 years, then you might need to consider about gratuity also since one will be eligible for gratuity amount once completed 4.8 years experience (including notice period - by LWD we need to complete 4.8 year tenure), so if your CTC high and having major portion towards BASE salary then the gratuity will need to be considered.

My suggestion would be:

  1. Calculate the gratuity amount over the internet (based on your base salary component) and if considerable then wait till June cycle. (By which you will be eligible for gratuity also)
  2. talk to your manager and explain that you are expecting the promotion for quite some time and every time they are giving some or the other reasons and notify you are not at all happy with this and definitely are expecting promotion next cycle without excuses.
  3. please keep work dependency on you, so that you can't be replaceable immediately.

NOTE: If you got a very good offer meanwhile then it's your call to resign and move on already without waiting for gratuity eligibility / june cycle. My above suggestion is based on your current expected offer with 25% hike.

Don’t stay back - the 10% it’s the comfort talking. The comfort makes us stay back and we sacrifice on something that we work for - total compensation. I was in the same situation as yours. I chose a new opportunity and made the move. The PLs will try to waste your time by asking you to talk the MU leads and other people but they never reach up to you expectations with regards to hike and after wasting 2-3 days they ask to put the papers down. It’s always better to make the move - Right Now! All the best!
