Typical PM career ladder is APM > PM > Sr PM > Lead PM/Group PM (Director equivalent) > Principal PM / Sr Group PM (Sr Director equivalent) > VP Product
These paths usually fork after Sr PM, with one route as an IC and the other path is a people manager path. Good table from Lenny's newsletter for reference.
