New joiner at Zensar – Cloud Platform Engineer | Looking for first 3–6 months guidance

Hi folks, I’ve recently joined Zensar Technologies as a Cloud Platform Engineer. My background so far has been mostly Azure Infrastructure / Azure DevOps, and this is my first proper move into a Cloud Platform–focused role. I wanted to understand from people who’ve been in similar roles or environments: What are the real expectations from a Cloud Platform Engineer in the first 3–6 months (beyond what’s written in the JD)? In the early phase, should the focus be more on learning the existing platform, supporting operations, automation, or design improvements? What skills or areas usually make the biggest impact early on (e.g., networking, security, Kubernetes, Terraform, monitoring, incident handling)? Any common mistakes new joiners make in platform teams that I should avoid? How do you stay proactive and visible without overstepping in the initial months? If anyone here is working at Zensar in a Cloud Platform / SRE / Infra Platform role—or has done a similar transition from Azure/DevOps to Platform Engineering—I’d really appreciate your practical advice.
