Network Engineer or Software development

I am working as a network engineer and need to work on weekends and rotational shifts. I don't want to work on weekends and shifts. I have experience in development from my internships. I was doing leetcode and stuff during my internship.

I am confused about which career path I should go for... Network or development ?

I can't start as a fresher in development. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As far as I understand, Network Engineer is a niche area, having lesser jobs than Software Development- which is a much wider area. But Network engineer can also pay a lot if you get into good companies. Personally, to be on safer side, I would suggest to go for Software Development path. It has much more diverse career exposure and much better in terms of no. of jobs in market.

Can you suggest some companies that pay well for network engineering roles in India? How much can we expect for a person with 7 YOE?
