I have 3 yrs experience in IT, one year in SAP PS and 2 yrs as a java developer, currently working as a java developer. I am planning to take 6 months break and learn java, front end tech and a bit of dsa and then apply for jobs. As I feel I don’t have required skills yet. What is your opinion.

Why taking a 6 month break? Start learning from today. Start with 2 hours and slowly expand it as per your capacity.

I am already doing that since 1 month, then I felt I have some good saving at the moment, no one is dependent on me financially plus giving whole day just for the tech stack I want to learn would be beneficial for me. Also in future there won’t be a need to take break

Learning java and having break sounds so unprofessional, you won't be getting happiness in java either

There is not of giving a career break
In fact u have a cushion of job along with that u keep learning and switch

Infact im in a same thought as well i switch career from mech to IT and currently doing a python dev.. i feel some times i need a little more skill to be confident in what iam doing. And so i have resigned and serving my notice period . If there is any possibilty i will take a break for for couple of months( i guessing max of 3 months) purely investing on python skills, dev skills and DSA too. But rightnow i have constant fear that what if future companies will take that as a career gap.. i mean im split in two thougts.. one .. life is not jumping from company to company... and its ok to take break... and the other is that .. what if the other companies take that as career gap..
