Need Your Expert Opinion: Am I Getting This Job
Hey community!
I just had what I think was a fantastic job interview, but I'm second-guessing myself. Would love your brutally honest assessment of my chances.
Here's the full situation:
The Interview Details: Role: DGM Interview Panel: CEO, Director of Indian Operations, Head of Sales & Marketing My Background: Previously worked at this company during 2012-16
Positive Signals I'm Reading ✅ Director's Enthusiasm: Gave me 5-10 reasons why I should apply, seemed genuinely excited about bringing me on
✅ Salary Discussion: They asked about my current CTC and expectations, director was taking careful notes
✅ CEO's Personal Interest: "I called you for this interview because I had a good first impression of you when you worked here"
✅ Competition Intel: Director openly criticized other candidate in front of me - "even after having lots of experience, people are not preparing properly"
✅ Availability Advantage: I'm available immediately, while one competing candidate had 90-day notice period and ghosted them after getting offer letter
✅ Strategic Presentation: I presented a comprehensive 15-page business report showing how to scale their revenue from ₹4-6 Cr to ₹50-100 Cr annually
✅ Clear Preference: Director explicitly told me the other candidate is their "backup option" to me
Communication Timeline:
- Interview happened Sept 23rd
- Sent thank you note same evening
- The director replied: "I will keep you updated"
- Had to follow up multiple times via WhatsApp to get an interview scheduled initially
Questions for You:
- Based on these signals, what are my realistic chances?
- Are there any red flags I'm missing?
- How long should I typically wait before following up again?
- Am I overthinking the positive signals, or do they seem genuine?
Additional Context:
- They've had hiring challenges (candidates backing out, skills mismatches)
- I have immediate availability vs competitors with longer notice periods
- My presentation directly addressed their core business challenges
- Strong existing relationship with leadership team
Be brutally honest - I can handle the truth! Are these genuine "you're getting the job" signals, or am I reading too much into standard interview courtesy?
Thanks in advance for your insights! 🙏
