Need to understand about Promotion cycle

I don’t understand what do we mean by Promotion cycle? Is it related to a fixed quarter where one can raise his request or it has to be a part of annual appraisal considering number of years employee has spent in organisation?? Is this cycle different for different grades??

Promotion cycle refers to the appraisal process where the project has the right to give appraisal to their associates. The eligibility criteria may vary from project to project. It happens in the first month of every quarter. It takes around 1 month if HR approves the appraisal to roll out an updated CTC.

So basically one can get 2 hikes i.e. 1 hike for promotion during any quarter end and the other usual annual hike.. Though it seems far fetched, but is it feasible theoretically?
