Need suggestions urgently

I joined TCS 2 months back and got a project since almost one month which doesn’t matching my skillset and experience. Now when i asked my manager for release he directly saying no and asked to take the new challenges and continue. But i have some career goals as per my experience and expertise. The situation is like neither i want to learn new things which is opposite to my skillset nor i am getting release. I feel mental stress seriously. Some people asked me to take leaves and don’t work so client will ask for the release but in such case tcs manager can give me either C or D band. Why i will get lower band when project allocation is wrong from TCS. Is there no one to help me in this situation? Is this all about manager ?? How i can reach to proper person who actually can understand my point? Please help guys, i need seriously some inputs.

sadly. If you are concerned about band there is no way out. If you really want to get out of the project, you have to stop working completely.

If i stop working completely, will they give D band and paycut ?? Paycut also a bit concern for me. My point is why i will get band D when project allocation is wrong from their side ? What is my fault?? Is joining tcs is my biggest mistake??

You don't have any option unless it is medical emergency under MBBS doctor and that also TCS doctor verify
Else if you do so you have to face D band salary reduction and then PIP with one way exit.

I faced this and recently left tcs with good hike

Hai
Do one thing: My Suggestion:

Just accept the work given to you by your Manager and Try to show case as if you are following his words and accepted the Project till mar end and take a good Band.

Once you get the Band, tell him that I expected the Higher Band than this and got less, So not interested to work here and ask for Release and Stop working from there onwards.

A normal day for TCSer. Either career with skills or a day job at TCS with no skills.

Don't stop working, don't oppose project. Act like you get along with project management. Here's what you can do limit your work keep it in the border of target. Nxt start preparing to switch outside and look for what you aspire prepare based on that Just lie in exp column that in tcs you worked in..... Switch companies with better job

Don't resist your project it only get worse.

Drop an email to your manager and then wait for sometime. If he does not release you or starts the process, loop in your location HR and explain the situation. HR might help you. If he doesn't do anything cc her supervisor. The road is difficult but that is the only way out. Explain and be stubborn how the project is not relevant according to your skills and is not benefitting you.

Just play along for a year mate, there's no way out. The Manager/HR hierarchy is such that you can't do anything to follow your aspirations within the company if they're against you. I'd suggest to show up at work, join calls and simply say that you don't know some stuff but you're figuring it out. Eventually client will feel that you're not suited for the project and ask for release. By then keep preparing and switch. Unfortunately this is the case with a lot many people in TCS.

You joined 2 months back then your appraisal is still 10 months away.

I hope this hint works for you ...

As for people who're saying don't join calls or be absent, don't listen. That'd count as behavioral problem and is a straight path to PIP, much worse than C band. Show up, and communicate. There's a difference between sincere and underperforming employee, make it so that only reason they have to release you is because of your performance, not because if didn't listen to manager or HR.
