Trending @Infosys; Need suggestions on Switching

I got a hike of 50% in a switch from Infosys to another service based MNC. Should I accept that ? I am having 8 years of exp with only 8 LPA package and I would be getting 15 LPA if I accept the offer. My technology is trending in market data engineer (power BI). My manager is trying to retain for promotion from TA to TL in next quarter and promising for onsite opportunities also, need suggestions on what should I do.

This is what happened to me, let me share with you.

I had planned to raise separation in 2022, but they Raised H1B and luckily I managed to get it. However, the whole process will take a year to complete.

But it didn't end there. I finally received my visa in 2023, but I haven't been able to travel yet due to the recession and budget constraints over there. Every time I asked about it, they kept telling me to wait And it's not just me, 4-5 of my co-workers are facing the same situation.

Things got even worse for me when I received an outstanding rating in my last appraisal, but they only gave me single digit percentile. Financially, my situation was deteriorating day by day. I had no other options but to ask for an immediate onsite opportunity or to normalize my salary (considering I had been with Infosys for 7 years from the beginning) so that I could wait. Unfortunately, they said no to both Despite there were opportunities in other projects for my tech they were not ready to release me.I definitely can't wait without knowing the time period. I had no other options than leaving to manage my financial crisis.

Luckily, I received a good offer from a product-based company. I only have 10 more days left on my notice period. The good news is that I can transfer my visa to the new company.

Can you tell to which company are you switching? And do they have on-site opportunities?

On sit is trap. It will take 1 2 years to get to Visa. Then 1 2 year to get project. Sp go for another company. If infy can't match wuth your 15l package

Ask them to match the package you got before taking your papers back. Don't believe in verbal, chat, or normal mail confirmation. You should get a compensation revision letter then only take the papers back.

Don't believe in promotion or on-site. Because you will get a 10 to 13% hike for the TA to TL position. If you believe in a promotion hike, you will definitely regret it.

My manager was pretty frank about it. She said retention hike is not in her hand can try for promotion to jlr which will give 12% hike but said she can try for onsite. At the same time i got offer of 150% so just left. Never regretted it once.

Please resign and switch to 15 lpa package. Also at same time once your notice period starts start applying aggressively ie apply to n number of companies, give lots and lots of interview and learn from ur interview experience. If all good you can even grab offer more than 15lpa as you have 8 yrs experience

It's a good offer. Onsite is a little complicated when it comes to US or UK these days. Which country's project are they offering?

Better to switch to get a package. 8 years experienced people have good pay in other companies. As we know Infosys does not give hikes

Your math is a bit wrong. This is not 50% hike. It’s nearly 88% hike. Assuming new offer has less or equal variable component. If you get TL promotion you will max reach 12-13. That is if they consider your retention and give you extra hike over and above your promotion hike. In current situation it’s nearly impossible to get such exceptions. Your manager may be saying with good intent but it’s not in his hands. What is in his hand is a promotion with 20% hike. On-site opp again depends on where they are promising - except US other countries they can initiate your visa quick and send you. But US is a litter system. On-site is good if you are bachelor and live like bachelor and save something. Most countries (except US/Switzerland) the on-site salaries are way low live with family and save. But if you want to explore a foreign country then you can go ahead. But you have to ensure that visa is initiated stamped before your lwd. They will ask you to revoke but tell them keep in hr in cc stating you are revoking with promise visa will be initiated and stamped before you lwd and if it doesn’t happen you will put your paper again and the lwd should be the same.
