Need suggestions

I have received an offer letter from a decent MBA college (fees: 25–30 lakh INR, median package: 10–12 LPA). I took admission, but now I am not getting released from my project. I want to apply for LWP (Leave Without Pay), but my manager is only ready to release me one month after the actual course start date.

Another option I have is to pursue a proper course in data analytics (cost: 1–2 lakh INR) and try switching to a different company. After facing so many hurdles, the second option keeps popping up in my mind, especially since the MBA college is not a very reputed one.

What should I do now? Should I fight for admission to the college, or should I apologize, stay in the same project, and focus on learning new skills? Kindly suggest.

Dear Friend, been on the same track as you and speaking to so many Career councillors, B School graduates ( IIM A B C K T, ISB, and XLRI in India and other people from Abroad ) I think I can share a condensed answer to your query.

MBA worth it ? - Only from the creme of creme University and it depends on your performance. Recently hires from Top B Schools including Harvard have dropped massively with end result being kids graduating with massive student loans.

So imagine going to an Avg B School paying 25-30 L to get a job lets take median of 12 LPA. You do realise your ROI is so low that with growth it will take years to pay back or gain the amount. Issue is you will have to be top of the line and beyond if you come from avg B School to get a hike to live comfortably and pay back loan which is not easy. Even kids from IIMs are struggling.

So why spend that much money on an avg B School. Fees at IIMs and XLRI are 25 L - 30 L.

In my opinion don't go for it. Try harder once more.

Meanwhile focus on the latter option of upskilling. Easily you will get the 12LPA job for sure once you learn inside out of the tech.

TLDR: MBA only if it's the best Uni in India or Abroad else you will be stuck with debt and possibly un employed.
Else, Upskill and jump which you will for sure get 12 LPA minimum with 3.33% or less of investment on MBA.
