Need suggestions

Need some suggestions regarding my onsite aspirations. I initiated discussions with my DP 8 months ago but there has been no progress. I recently decided to step out of this project and requested an early release putting some pressure on him so I could explore other onsite opportunities.

However, he has now nominated me for the H1B for FY26 without my prior consent and is asking me to continue in this project. Currently, there is no onsite role available in my project, and I am confident that there is no upcoming project in my technology within the pipeline. (Note: The Won number provided to update in GESS is for a different technology and I am sure this project will end by December 2025. I am open to upskilling in this technology if needed.)

I am confused about my next steps and need guidance: 1. Should I proceed with the H1B nomination? If I get selected in the lottery and complete the stamping by October, I believe that my project team will not allow me to travel due to the project’s end date. In that case, I would continue working offshore with an active visa. 2. Given the presidential change in US and ongoing H1B-related issues for Indians, even if I find a new project through an amendment, will I be able to stay long-term? 3. OR, should I decline the H1B process, continue pressuring my manager for a release within the next 2 months and start looking for onsite roles in other regions (EMEA, APAC, etc.)? Would I have good chances of securing new onsite opportunities?

Long story short: - Can I accept the H1B nomination and still stay on my current project? - Considering the current situation in the US, will an H1B give me long term stability? - Should I instead focus on other onsite opportunities in EMEA/APAC?
