Need some suggestions

I have recently cracked a government job that pays 1.2 lakhs per month as gross pay. But I still feel like I'm behind in life as I see people getting 50-70 LPA just like that. I am currently getting 12.5 lpa in IT. I'm in a dilemma whether to choose government or private.

What’s your YOE? You need to understand that lifestyle of Govt vs Private sectors are different. Both have pros ans cons. Better to write them down and see where your priorities are. Also for every one person you see earning 50-70 LPA there are 100’s in IT who are earning less than 5 LPA. So don’t just go by top numbers

How many year's of experience do you've currently in IT? Also what type of govt job it is? If it's SSC higher level then I would say choose that and never look back again.

It depends upon what are your priorities, if you need less work pressure life with Fine salary and mostly important with job security go with Govt job. If you are working on good tech and very passionate about the technology plus eager to upskill every now and then choose private job.But there will be always the uncertainty with the changing scenarios in job market.

Govt Vs Private is not a question of money, but of work interest, work culture, job permanence/security, and work environment. So you need to first think from that angle.
