Need some advice / thoughts from people in corporate life:
I resigned on Monday, and surprisingly, by Wednesday, my manager and team assigned me to a new project.
I’m quite new to the corporate world, so I’m genuinely curious, is this normal? Do people usually get new projects even when they’re serving their notice period?
Also, is it common to work 12–13 hours a day during notice? I always thought the notice period was meant to hand over responsibilities smoothly, not take on new ones.

It's not common to assign anything new if someone started notice period. Even if they assign new project don't try to give more efforts as it doesn't count anything for you.

Common tactics by all Big4. Overload notice period folks with work till last day. I've seen it everywhere.
All it does is help you develop a thick skin.

Agar mera manager mujhe notice period pe esa kuch dega me mu pe boluga 'i don't understand the requirement completely it is better i don't do it.' agar fir bhi bolega kro tobhi kuch nhi kruga aur ulta ye bol dunga 'i told this previously that i can't do this'

Yeah these things are common in Indian corporates - mostly due to egoistic managers who got the power to 'manage' but didn't really deserve it

Lol, bro chill out during your notice period. They can't force you to work for longer hours.

Start by not opening ur laptop for few days, then log in for just 1 hr whatever gets done is done then close off. Thats how u will learn to set boundaries and not get used by these corporate cockroaches

Samething they are doing with me as well in PWC. I am left with only 30 days in my notice period but still they are adding me every teams group for new project. Here there is so much toxic environment and work culture

Play smart buddy, work in such a manner that everyone think you are working but there’s no progress. Ask too many questions, delay replies and emails, make their life hell. Manager will piss in his pants thinking he will leave and then I will be answerable, better to assign tasks to someone else.

It is not common to assign a notice serving person to a new project. Also working for 12-13 hours is also not common. Don't put too much effort as you are already on notice period unless you want to retain here. Enjoy the notice period as this is usually the honeymoon period in corporate world!

Depends,
Aapne kitne saal gujaare hai is company me aur aap ka work life experience kesa rha aapke manager ke saath? is he Supportive?

I would suggest to put maximum efforts, as it's not about how much your remaining days but its attitude which will develop eventually and help you to be more responsible as you grow
