Need some advice & support — Feeling stuck at my new workplace

Joined a new company a month ago, and things are a bit tough as of now. My manager seemed supportive at first took me for tea break with his friends but now barely communicates — no clear work expectations, no feedback, and almost no interaction.

He’s also not aligning office days with mine (hybrid setup), and now suddenly says new joiners must come 5 days a week — something HR and other senior members deny.

I’m commuting 5+ hours daily to office trying to give my best, but the lack of clarity and connection is taking a toll. Don’t know many people yet, so feeling quite alone too.

Anyone else been through this early on? How did you deal with it? Would really appreciate any advice.

This happens everywhere specially in Indian company. So relax. You are not alone.

Either you change the job or shift near to office to make it easy. Manager will start speaking to you once you proof yourself. Better to focus on your work. Make some friends.

Things are not going easy everywhere.

Always remember

THIS TOO SHALL PASS

I asked him about the days on which he will join office so that we can have a syncing. He said I have to come office 5 days regardless of he is joining or not but I have to join.

Never thought that this big tech companies will be giving this much of trouble to me, better to join some small startups who can pay me well and give me WFH as well

Totally understand where you’re coming from. I’d always suggest staying close to office, but I understand that it may not always be possible.
I’d suggest communicate more effectively with your manager, have direct conversations, set expectations, get feedback and get back to it. Set up weekly/fortnightly catchups. This always helps. Best of luck! Oh and be strong mentally, that’s the most important thing :)
