Need Guidance on Transitioning from Networking to Security

Hi everyone,

I have 3 years of experience in networking at TCS, primarily working on routing, switching, and F5 load balancers. I’m currently based in Bengaluru and looking to switch companies while transitioning into network security. However, I don’t have much hands-on experience with security tools yet.

I’d love to get guidance from professionals who have made a similar transition. What’s the best way to gain practical security skills? Are there any must-have certifications or labs I should focus on? Also, how can I position my networking experience to land a security role?

Any advice, resources, or interview tips would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance🙂

First learn Cisco ASA firewall then start learning checkpoint or PALO Palo any one of them .. Use YouTube or Udemy for learning these Firewalls . Once you done then update the resume and mention there you are doing L1 task on firewall - like monitoring , ACL rule review etc .. then start lab practice , then start job hunting .. better check internally if any opening in TCS
