Need Career Advise

Hi everyone,

I have 6+ years of experience working as Senior Software Engineer on Javascript Stack (React on Frontend and Node..js on backend) My current TC is 22 Lpa I have not tried hardcore problem solving on leetcode but instead would like to use that time to sharpen my skillset on learning new frameworks and best practices. Should I try to jump as Senior Ui engineer in product based mnc’s as I have also seem senior leadership positions in UI on linked in with basic problem solving and would like to see if there is drawback in just going as ui vs backend and also what should be the positions and salary which I can expect in that experience. Please ping for additional details. Thanks

LC is pretty much needed if you are applying for Product firms (and mostly not applicable for WITCH type of firms).

Try to get into product firm where you can grow from sw engineer, lead, to EM. You will automatically see your career roadmap.

In the current market expect somewhat around 15 - 20% hike subject to where you are applying

Thanks. I have seen that product based companies have relatively easier ds round for ui based engineers compared to backend. So, should I try with that and in long term, is there any impact on package and growth for ui vs backend in corporate ladder

Most large size product based companies will expect you to know both UI as well as backend, specially backend. So I am not sure how well you will be taken with just nodeJS as backend tech. At 6 exp, your package already looks pretty good, why shouldn’t you be having a full stack knowledge since you will be targeting at least a 30+ compensation. I mean, I believe to most big organisation this will look like a raw deal, but may be you can float your resume and have a try.

I am not aware whether UI folks get a lower bar in terms of Interview at Product firms. For the longer run, you may have to think in both UI and backend imo
