Need Career Advice: Feeling Stuck in a Support Project
It’s been almost 7 months since I joined TCS, and I’m currently part of a support project. Most of my work involves PPT preparation and application monitoring, with very limited technical exposure. I’m a bit worried about long-term growth in this role. The project has a 3-year bond, so I’m confused about whether it’s possible to get a release before that or if switching companies would be a better option. Since my technical skills aren’t very strong right now, I’m unsure about the right path forward. I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has insights to share.
@SurefootedReboot - First tell me whts your priority?? If you need to excel in technical domain then you will have to speak up! Try to find if there is any scope where you can learn and excel. Sitting and preparing presentation + monitoring isn’t going to help you in any way.
So my strong suggestion would be to Speak up and ask for work which might help you. Do not get comfortable. You will regret later. Years will pass and expectation will start building up that you will find hard to meet. Ask for more and more now so later you can be comfortable with anything that is put on your plate..
Try to avoid work and skip it you will remember my words later. If there is nothing in your project ask for release and find other project. Tell them if you have something good assign it to me. Struggle and deliver. You will find work will automatically come to you.

Nope, start learning something side by side. Maybe the tech you work in supports now. 3 years would be more than enough to learn anything. If you have a backup only then ask for release. In the current situation it is not advisable. Wait till march!
