Need an advice from Experienced professionals/MBA Postgrads
Hello everyone reading this, quick intro, I am a 2023 graduate from deshbandhu college holding a Bachelor's degree in Science with a major in Mathematics.
Started my CAT Prep in august 2023, Left my previous job in november end due to tedious work which was not catering to my long-term goals and now, unfortunately, victim of the current job market.....since the opportunities are not very fulfilling from some time, I moved ahead with continuing my rigorous CAT Prep from january & its going really great....but due to increasing financial problems, i'm now compelled to take up a sales role in a bank's branch....I am not much interested in sales work & it was one of the reasons why I left my previous job.....but, now i'm not much concerned about it.... because i'm being advised to go with the flow for some time & take up any job on the side to manage the household.
The thing which concerns me the most is "will working in a sales role or a branch office affect my application in tier-1 b-schools?" Since i'm preparing for tier-1 b-schools only....i see no benefit in doing an mba from tier-2/3 school...neither monetarily nor network-wise. I'm really scared & concerned about taking up this job & my application in b-schools.....kindly help me out....i'm stressed out and this is causing me sleep deprivation.....

Sales job? That's a joke for MBA aspirants. B-schools want leaders, not salesmen. You're wasting your time. How will you justify this to admission panel?
I understand where you're coming from....but with such a critical market situation, its really been tough to get a desired role in any Big 4s or anything else like that....and about leaders, so many of the students in IIMs and other tier-1 B-schools are freshers or from normal backgrounds like software engineer, or other roles like data analyst, business analyst, HR.....so how do they justify their leadership experience? Like, how can anyone below 5 years experience portray leadership in a professional capacity?(Kindly asking not arguing).....because, still they get into B-schools based on their excellent cat scores & interviews. I, too am preparing for an exceptional cat score....and the prep is going great....its just that the financial condition of my household has led to the decision of getting into a job....although, just got to know today that it might not be a sales job but an operations one. So, hoping if I can grab it and get some experience in banking industry.
Buddy, sales job is not a roadblock but a stepping stone. B-schools love diverse profiles. How will you turn this into a winning story?

The concern was that I worked in the IT domain earlier for 4-5 months & now I'm stepping in the banking industry.....probably sales or backend operations depending upon interview....i just hope it does not raise a concern....neither in b-school application nor during placements....maybe i'm thinking too far or idk its just my anxiety.... “Sales” role won’t impact your tier-1 applications considering you tick mark against all other things
