Need Advice for My Brother Stuck at a 20K Job in Cybersecurity
Okay so I am posting this for my brother. He has always been the smartest one in the family and we all knew it. He graduated with a solid CGPA around 8.75 and landed a job as a cybersecurity software engineer right out of college.
The issue is he has been working at the same company for two years now and he is still making only 20K per year. I have tried using my connections to help him out but nothing has worked so far. He does not even know I am posting this but I really want to figure out what we are doing wrong.
To all the software engineers and tech professionals here what should he be doing differently? Should he be job hopping, getting certifications, or working on side projects? Any guidance would mean a lot.
Thanks in advance!

Change field or go abroad

Not an option😔

Even my sister started job as cybersecurity. The change needed to be done is change the way one looks for job. Rather than finding job as a cybersecurity engineer , find a job for software engineer . Keep your basics of CS right (OS/CN/OOPS/DSA/DBMS etc.) Then once you het a job as soft dev , try to get into cybersec type role. Big MNCs do a general hire for sde and then allot roles randomly or based on past exp. Going niche field job will restrict you. It's similar to finding frontend dev jobs (20k per month) vs taking job as sde and working an a frontend team (2L per month)
