Need Advice: Caught Between Manager and Skip Manager - Should I Escalate?

I’m in a bit of a tricky situation and could use some perspective. My direct manager and skip manager don’t seem to get along well. They have noticeably different approaches to leadership and team direction, which sometimes puts the team and me in a tough spot. There’s tension in how priorities are communicated and executed and it’s starting to impact my ability to do my job effectively

The skip-level leader is fairly approachable and has shown appreciation for my work in the past. I’m wondering if I should have a candid (but respectful) conversation with them not to complain, but to share how the disconnect is affecting day-to-day execution and morale

At the same time, I’m scared about potential fallout. I don’t want to damage my relationship with my manager or be seen as going around them.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would you speak up or stay out of it?
