She have to pay the insurance amount. That will not be waived.

Are you in Gold Plus and by default your wife in Gold ?

By default an employee's own insurance is covered within the CTC. when she joins she will have her own insurance covered as part of CTC

Your option i assume is to remove her from your list of beneficiaries. Talk to your HRBP
