Working 24/7 is definitely a joke. He might be in a terrible mental condition, but he's like that for the last 15 years it seems. Bro was online even during festivals and PTOs. See never judge people so quickly, do u know what kind of treatment he is getting at home. They might be just shifting their mindset to something else rather than investing at home with arguments 😀. When life becomes a joke other jokes are just passing clouds which don't even touch their mind. Everyone will have their own side of the story. If a person is torturing you people and expect u people also work like him then u can label whatever u wish to.
OMG you just gave me another perspective. I never took family conflicts into consideration at all. This might explain why he's working too much, maybe to avoid the family itself. Also, I wasn't joking, all my teammates were confused and scared. Is that how we need to strive to get promoted or get into peak? Is that how we need to give away our family time? Nope, he's been like that for 15 years it seems, people say, he has a strong dependency on our project already, he owns the code and knows the product in and out. He built the entire thing from scratch. Gitlens shows every fucking like to be his code. The only good thing is that he doesn't bother other people to work beyond hours.

You don't know the other side of him. You just know him through work. If both of you are comfortable in this way then leave it.
He does that due to some reason and without reason we can't comment on it (or say 'NO LIFE'). Also think if you can change his situation or else chill and mind your life.
