My stance!

I have been having some crazy discussions on this platform about the current political scenario of our country right now. And this post by Dr. Anand Ranganathan pretty much summaries everything I had to say. There is no doubt that both the sides are using religion and caste heavily but this is not new to me. It has been happening for 75 years.

Both the parties have not shown much promise in the development of our country. Pretty much standard stuff.

But the deal breaker for me in case of religious or caste based promise is that one party (BJP) just says it to win votes and the other party (Congress) actually has decided to implement divisive laws.

Any party shouldn't rule for more than 10 yrs, that gives, kind of unchecked power to few people be it BJP or Congress.
Voting out congress in 2014 was as important as voting out BJP is in 2024.

Congress staying out of power, will do more harm to the country than to congress, look at the state of supposedly independent institutions(Media, ED, CBI, ECI) and what's been done to them in 10 yrs, just for the nation's sake we'll have to vote in Congress(INDIA), we don't want to, but we have to, just to let the middle class breathe and be able to question the govt and show that it's the people's rule. The only thing that's countering the supreme leader and upholding democracy is dissent on YouTube, Supreme court judgements in their limited capacity. These will be the first casualties, if BJP comes in for the third term, because we've seen how good they are at killing dissent. Accountability only comes when there is a fear of losing votes.

Can you explain how BJP has killed dissent? Genuinely want to know.

DerpyBiscuit

@PhysicalSky3 Sure, there are really a large number of examples which I can't cover, but let me start with the latest one

  1. The BJP minority morcha leader who expressed disapproval with the PM for his remarks on Muslim was expelled from the party 3 days ago, & today was arrested for "breach of peace".

  2. Media control, media that was supposed to question the govt., does not even pretend to be neutral, eg, you can count on fingers how many times the ladakh protest was covered.

  3. You can check about the Vyapam scam in MP(although it's a few years old now), where almost every other day, the newspapers would come up with headlines of new deaths of people associated with the scam(accused, witnesses and even journalist).
Most of these witnesses deaths during court proceedings caused the accused to be acquitted.
There were around 50-55 such deaths.

  4. Weaponising investigative agencies like ED, CBI, to kill dissent from opposition, & as soon as the dissent is suppressed (say the accused politician joins BJP) the cases go away( example Himanta Biswa, Ajit Pawar, list goes on)

  5. The dissenting Election Commissioner in the case where PM modi sought votes in names of Pulwama martyrs had to "suddenly leave his job" and IT notices were sent to his family members (wife, sister, and son).

It’s not that Congress wants to get into power for the first time. They were till 2014. Come up with a better reasoning.

This BJP is bad but Congress is worse needs to stop. Just look at the Bilkis Bano case. The BJP government got the murderers and rapists released. Gave them more vacation time than school children. Garlanded them. While Bilkis had to run here and there to get some justice. Finally, SC intervened and she got some justice. They're still getting holidays from jail. I'm sure they're being kept in 5 star facilities in jail too. That's what the BJP and its supporters are enabling.

In any country with half decent citizens, a party that supported this would have been finished. But alas, this is India and they're just growing. We're seeing the results of it clearly.

Cough suspended and removed from the party.

Brij Bhushan Singh is still an honorable BJP member. Bilkis Bano murders rapists still are getting regular vacations from their jail. Both thanks to paw paw.

We need a good opposition but certainly not the current I.N.D.I Alliance guys who all are corrupt, dynasty and ill intentioned.
Hope a new front takes birth who are rooted in Indian values and traditions with a modern outlook.

I think religion will never leave the political identity of our country because based on this only our country was divided, metaphorically and literally both. That too just after we got our independence.

Some vros here think that Mamata and other goons in the INDI alliance are peaceful believers of democracy.

I don't care about anything but I don't want to pay a single penny more in taxes. And with INDI alliance promises, it feels that I will have to give more taxes, directly or indirectly.
