My previous company wants me to join back.

I recently switched. I have 3.5 yoe. After 7 months my previous company Manager called me and asked me if I was willing to join back. Now I am not confused about what I should do.

My current company is product based and has 5 days WFO. And I feel a bit tired coming to the everyday office. But it has lots of stuff going on with AI. So learning opportunities are great here.

But I am expecting at least 15 lpa if the previous company wants me to join back.

How much should I expect to go back in service based on product based.

3.5 years is too small exp to go back. They wont give you any bogger role. The manager is desperate. That's why he is calling you. Once that necessity goes away, he will behave like rabid dog.

Dont negotiate anything. Just tell him you are a VIP in the current project and it wont be nice to drop it in between. A polite no.

Actually I will be replacing one lady who is going on maternity leave. And I will have a dev role.

Sorry bro it is worst thing to go back, they are asking you back because they need you not because you are irreplaceable , they do not culturally love you just they do not have other option ,, their ego already got hurt when you left at first place,,such employees are easily laid off when they find replacement , if you are not culturally sure they like you don't go back

Don’t join back. No matter how good or bad it was. You are young In industry- explore around. Don’t stay stuck in past. Being in product based is far better than being in service based. Do not negotiate.

You have around 3.5 years of experience, so I’m assuming you may not have major personal commitments yet. In that case, it would be better to continue in your current organization and focus on exploring and learning new technologies rather than returning to your previous company. However, if you are married or have personal responsibilities that require more stability, then going back to your previous organization could be a reasonable option. This is a good time for you to understand the external market, gain exposure, and continue learning.

What i feel let me tell u. In my current organization I feel I can learn more i don't have a work pressure environment with good full access to AI technology. And other tools also. If I go back i know I need to work on only one tool. In current there are different technologies for me to explore.

And yes I am not married no such responsibility yet

Right now you focus on learning rather than earning. Forget the old job, be respectful to you previous manager. Don't burn bridges. Tell him you have made commitments and in future you guys can collaborate.

Joining back is never a problem. Do you really want to go back and not learn new stuff due to WFO?

Get clarity on the expected role and future roadmap from the previous company and compare with existing role.

Also, since no one's job is too safe today then why not switch and make most money while it lasts :)

Whatever you choose, be professional and clear with communications.
