My honest journey from 3LPA to 1.03cr PA in 7 years

Now that I have your attention, I have ADHD and I need help.

I did make a post about this earlier https://share.gvine.app/BLa7E7EkXZhdgFE2A but people on GV only care about tech stack, YOE, total comp so I had to make this clickbaity post.

I have been clinically diagnosed with ADHD and I'm looking for treatments (medication and therapy) in Hyderabad. Any suggestions for a psychiatrist would be of great help.

Thanks.

I heard this thing in the joe rogan's podcast. Now please don't take this in a wrong way, this can help you understand where ADHD stems from and if you qualify for clinically diagnosed ADHD.

So, the guest says that there are two responses of the body in a threatening situation, namely flight or fight as we all know. But what happens to the body if we don't have any of the options?

To which joe rogan says it starts to distract itself and starts focusing on other stuff. Various thoughts and other things pop up in our mind. This is ADHD which slowly becomes a coping mechanism of the brain, if not addressed in childhood.

Good news - we can change as an Adult!

I used to do all the other non essential work when something serious comes up and only focus on it until the very last moment causing procrastination.
Whether while studying, I would clean first, meditate and do 10 other stuff to set my mind but actually open the book and start studying!

I hope people can relate to this and I also hope your ADHD is not serious because medicines in the long run won't help you. Good luck🤞

There's a lot of (mis)information on ADHD on the internet. I can't comment on this one since I'm no expert either but good to read a different perspective.

Focus on exercise, think about goals. Keep forcing yourself to always be productive, do not reward yourself other than once for one hour on the weekend.

These situations are rare, and people usually don’t talk about them even amongst friends, that’s why information is so scarce. I would suggest to go by any local Doctor’s recommendation, may be visit a good physician and ask for recommendation. Or see if you have any Doctor friends in family or friend circle. If you were from Bihar, I could have recommended one Doctor of Patna, but no idea of Hyderabad specific Doctors.

Be aware that in psychiatric issues, it is very important to find a good Doctor, otherwise usual doctors just keep experimenting with diff-diff medicines and that play havoc with healthy by their side-effects. Good doctors know well how much side-effects every medicines have, and which medicines are more suited, and they know well how to modulate the power of medicines, or which other medicine to give as an alternative if 1 fails to act well, etc

Thank you, it makes sense. I'll be vigilant with the kind of treatment I'm getting.

No input on therapist but having ashwagandha helped me for 3 months, then my body got used to it. If you want an interim solution until you find a therapist you can try it out.

I have been suffering from anxiety and depression taking medicine for 3 years. In 3 years I have learned that there is no permanent cure through medicine. All medicine does is manage your symptoms. One doctor told me that you have to take medicine for a lifetime. And all these medicines come with a lot of side effects.

So my suggestion is practice mindfulness meditation. Meditation has worked wonders for me. Apart from meditation you quit social media. Have a healthy diet and exercise. For me these lifestyle changes have helped a lot more than medicines.

Caution: Don't stop psychiatric medication without doctor consultation.

Thank you so much for your inputs. I used to practice mindfulness meditation for 25 mins everyday a few years back but I'm guilty of not continuing it. I really really need to get back.

Bro/Sis the best thing would be to visit a medical practitioner but in the mean time if you want you can try atomoxetine 18mg for few weeks or a month and see if you are improving. It is a non stimulant medicine for ADHD. How did you diagnose that you have ADHD? Can you share your symptoms ?

I'm having troubles finding someone in Hyderabad who treats ADHD. And honestly, I don't want to self medicate.

I visited a therapist for some other issues without having an idea that I've ADHD. She suspected it after we had a few sessions and then conducted a Diva 2.0 test to assess the same.

Start with therapy if you are in the stage of talking.

Well I do have a therapist in office who infact helped diagnose this but I quickly realized that she's not an expert on ADHD and that I would probably need medication to improve my situation. I've tried a lot of ADHD hacks and apps and productivity tips and nothing seems to work. So I've decided to give medication a go but I want to take it under the supervision of a professional.
