Project and HR are 2 different units. While both has to work towards organisations growth, that won’t happen in real world. Its usually a big conflict zone. At least with PIP project hardly has any control apart from rating him better. Clearing assessment is most important.

Same for my team mate. He was on PIP because he took back his resignation last year and was given D band. He was the top performer in our team and was forced to resign yesterday
