My fellow Grapeviners, what hobbies do you follow outside work?
So I play this flight simulator game called X-Plane 11. I am sort of an aviation geek.
There's also this called VATSIM network, which is like a multiplayer version where you get to play either as a virtual pilot or ATC controller. I only play as a virtual pilot. Initially, I felt nervous communicating with the folks playing ATC, but over time got comfortable.
It's really fun.
Woahh. Is it on Laptop? Or like some PS?
I'm too an aviation geek, but I usually just watch or read.. I wanted to try on actual simulator, but prices were crazy 100k+ for 90 mins (outside India), so ofc opted out. Would be interested to try out the games (i don't play games at all(
Nice to meet a fellow aviation geek on Grapevine :) I play it on my laptop. The game that I play, X Plane 11 doesn't really require a high end laptop. It's just that your laptop should have a decent graphics card for better experience. But yeah, if you want to have near to real world experience, I would recommend playing on the VATSIM network. I got a great exposure with ATC comms on both VFR and IFR flying. I also purchased a Logitech Joystick for better experience, because it's not really worth it with keyboard and mouse
