My Experience with Chennai PG culture
I stayed in Sri Lakshmi Narayana PG, Sholinganallur, Chennai for 2 years. What happened on my last day still haunts me. When I asked for my advance amount back, the owner (Krishna) flatly refused. I spoke politely, but he shouted saying the PG is already running without people and told me to “get away”. He then threw my bags out of the room, abused me with inappropriate and filthy words. It got heated and created a scene.
When I said I would file a police complaint, his reply shocked me: “Bring inspector, DSP, Collector… bring anyone. You can’t pluck anything from me.”
He didn’t stop there. He threatened me saying: “I will file a fake drug case on you. Your future will be spoiled.”
I was completely helpless. With no other option, I took my bags and left the PG, losing my advance and my dignity, time was around 11 pm I stayed on the road for next 2 hours and went to my friend's room. This is the reality of how some PG owners treat residents in Chennai — with arrogance, threats, and zero humanity. This is not just about money. This is about abuse of power, mental harassment, and open threats. These are his 3 PG locations.

Yes, you are right. But I don't think Police will help a common man. He literally threatened me by saying he is a member of PG association, police will not take this kind of small cases. That's why I'm creating awareness of this PG and asking people to rate. If possible, please support me by giving less ratings and reviews. Thank you 🙏
How much advance did you pay?
Advance 3000 rupees. I can manage if he is not willing to give money. The words and the way he threatened me is hurting more.
Did you discuss the deal before renting his PG? What was the agreement ? And the papers?
Yes of course, as per their agreement when a tenat vacating his room he should have returned half of advance money. Apart from my advance money, I joined this PG at mid of the month and still I paid full month rent as per his request. He said he will return or tally that extra money when I leave. But now he refused to give my advance money as well as half month rent.
Could have stayed more days without paying rent and adjusted the advance rather asking to return would have been apt.
Yeah I agree with you. But as per my project requirements I moved to Bangalore. That's why I informed him earlier.
