
My colleague has been house arrested by her parents and can't come to the office!
My colleague (also my very good friend) wants to marry out of her caste and she finally disclosed her 10 year old relationship to her parents. She is 26 but helpless here. Her parents are very strict, might be abusive as well from what she told me. Now, she desperately needs the tcs job as well but given she is forced inside the home and from the last two days, I see she is able to work from her home.
What actions can we expect from management if she is not visiting the office at all for the next few months? Variable pay will be gone, reminder emails and all that...but beyond that, what is the worst we can expect?

She can submit a request to HR for WFO exception, but HR will obviously need solid proof. So, make a video—preferably with dramatic background music—showing your house arrest situation. They’ll then cross-verify with neighbours . If that’s not enough, they might even send the TCS medical team to diagnose your “severe case of forced matchmaking.”
After multiple reminders, escalations, and possibly an astrological consultation, they might approve your request in a week or more. But beware—if they find out you’re already married, your request will be instantly rejected with a polite “Congratulations!” email.

Forget the lover and do your work..abide by parents... . . . . . That's the last thing I want to say. Ask if ur lover wants to marry...if he agrees....get his consent....ask the cops.....no one can do.....and yes sont take a shit about variable pay....life is more important than a few rupees of a quarter. If he disagrees... the first line is helpful. Thank me later

Don't bother for variable pay cuts. Life is much more important.
