Moving to Belgium <> India is doomed 🇧🇪

I'm a marketer with 6 YOE. Started with market research consulting and now hustling in a software startup handling product marketing, sales, and strategy. Got my MBA from a top BSchool (IIM-A/B/C/ISB)

So, the thing is that my girlfriend is Belgian, living in Brussels. We've been together for a year, met twice, and now we're planning for me to move there. I see two paths ahead:

Path 1: Apply directly from India to Belgium or the Netherlands. I'm eyeing B2B SaaS marketing or sales gigs, but aware it’s tough without knowing French or Dutch. I heard Netherlands has more tech jobs and is English-friendly.

Path 2: We get married, I move there, get residency and work permit, then job hunt.

Do you think I should move to Belgium considering that the amount of taxes I pay, is being used not for me but for the betterment of people who pay zero taxes and are complete degenerates that hide their money and don't pay any taxes?

One day, someone you know might be hit by a wealthy Porsche owner who manages to get away by writing an apology essay, and that's when you'll realize that despite paying hefty taxes every month in the name of "desh-bhakti," you're getting nothing in return.

On a serious note, take the easy route of getting married and residency. In the first route, you are increasing the effort for employers by sponsoring your work permit. You will be filtered out automatically. It is a chicken and egg problem.
If marrying her is solving that, do it. I do not see any downside.

Are you moving to Belgium due to taxes or girlfriend? Both are different things - keep them separate while making the decision.

If you still need some time before getting married, route 1. else If you are ready for marriage and given you have enough savings, go with 2nd route. else you dont have a choice than route 1.
