Moved from MNC to startup, learning nothing, and CTO is just vibe coding

5 months it has been, and I’m regretting everything.

There is absolutely zero engineering discipline - no code reviews, no unit tests, just 'ship it yesterday' and fix it when the client (D2C brands in our case) screams.

And my CTO who I am supposed to actually be learning from, I would dare not learn anything from him!!

He talks about shipping velocity but I realized he is mostly just vibe coding. He relies entirely on claude code to generate features. If claude can't solve the logic error, he’s lost. He literally doesn't understand the architecture he supposedly designed

The roadmap changes every 6 hours based on the founder’s mood, and the CTO never fights him back - just starts typing away without a discussion or much thought process. I traded a stable, boring job for high blood pressure and a manager who prompts better than he codes.

I am not sure if anybody has remotely seen something like this. Is this real for other places in BLR too?

This kind of chaos is very normal for startups. That's why most people prefer to work in big companies and not in startups, unless they have no better options 🤷‍♂️

Never go for a startup, unless it's your own!

Lol, I am facing the same in a MNC! The team is naive, thinks gatekeeping will increase their dependency, literally no discipline no standard practices at all, I highlighted it multiple times, but no action so I have resigned, I fear losing my skills to these idiots.
