Move to Bangalore from Gurgaon?

Been living in Gurgaon for 35+ years, but it has got really polluted and lost character. Wife recently got diagnosed with allergy to pollution, and the ENT suggested that it might be wise to leave the city. Wife's company has an office in Bangalore too. 1 Kid, 5 yr old.

What has been the experience for folks who moved to Blr / living in Blr with family, assuming money/expenses in not a constraint?

Apart from pollution, life is very convenient and set in Gurgaon - kid's school, parents in same complex, who also look after the kid, relatives nearby, househelps, local connects, everything else.

thanks.

Dude looks like your life is sorted in Gurugram.

Moving to Bengaluru from AQI perspective makes sense, but if you don't have anyone here, you all will start feeling lonely pretty soon.

Also, the kiddo will take time to adjust and will miss his grandparents immensely.

Maybe you can restrict your outside movement in Gurugram and install air purifier in all your rooms. Try this for maybe 3-6 months, if it helps at all, then stay back, if not, welcome to Namma Bengaluru.

Thank you. Valid points.
Aur purifiers don't help beyond a point.
I think we will try living in Bangalore for a month and see how it goes. Have many friends in Bangalore, so we should be okay

Welcome to Bengaluru. 😃

You may come across people who will tell you 'The Rameswaram Cafe' is too overhyped.

Please stay away from them.

Bangalore has its own airborne allergies - stronger than NCR.

Check that before you decide to make the jump.

True, I myself have been diagnosed with pollution related in allergy in Bangalore, got treated in Sakra hospital.. don't think there are no airborne allergies in Bangalore

Bangalore also climate is cold most of the times. Kids are prone to frequent cold ,flus .

You can't roam out before 9 without covering.

Rents are more. You can stay near to your wife office with in 5km range and also kid school near by.

Metro also came recently.

I think it's not more cold than Gurgaon.

Think and decide wisely. If possible visit few days and you and undestand the situation.

I don't think u have been to Gurgaon it's nothing like Bengaluru in terms of cold

Lol I don't think you've lived in Bengaluru. It's cold the year round, rains the year round. It's like London, but just sans the snow

If anyone would pay me to live in Bangalore I won’t go, the food is average, rent is like you’re living somewhere super fancy but you’re not, language barriers and food is worst, traffic issues, hooligans running around and the food is so bad.
You’ve access to everything in GGN apart from AQI I don’t see any issues just invest in a super nice Air Purifier also allergies are spiked in BLR and damn the food is bad.

How is the food in Bangalore?

I’m so sorry I didn’t cover it,yea imagine you failing an exam and then your parents are just dead disappointed and it’s making you feel awful as well, the food in blr will make you feel exactly the same.

Move to Mumbai, everything is freaking sorted, great public transport, less pollution, mumbaikars accept outsiders, it’s a most cosmopolitan city in India. Everything is fairly priced except real estate

Yes right. Mumbai has got the best public transport. I have been in Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Mumbai is the best

If you move to any city which has strong tech culture, you will face problems in some way or the other. Could be high expenditure, health issues, pollution, traffic, weather, etc.

Tier 2 or 3 cities will be good without these issues, but the infra/services and the tech culture will not even be comparable.

It's a difficult decision to make.

Don't know about a married man but for bachelor single guy ( atleast for me ) it's fucking lonely and boring.. mostly i cry before going to bed bcoz of loneliness ...my anxiety goes up and becoming more depress. Sometimes I wish I get layoff and just get the reason to go home. And stay with family
But have responsibility have to earn money

Bangalore has more air borne allergies than any place. Pollen is a huge problem here.
