Move out or stay in India

Working in India at 50LPA with 10 years experience in a business management role. I have got PR to relocate to Sydney with my wife (earning 50LPA in India) and a young kid.

In dilemma right now, what do you suggest?

It really depends on the kind of pay you’ll get in Sydney. If both you and your wife are getting good salaries (100k+ each) in Sydney you should definitely consider moving. Better lifestyle, cleaner cities, fresh air and the beautiful af beaches. Really hard to beat that.

I mean, 100K+ each isn't much at all. That's equivalent to just 50LPA in India while having a much higher cost of living in Sydney

That’s true but what’s the likelyhood of getting 150-200k salaries in Sydney especially when the tech sector isn’t that booming there like India. Only big tech pays that much and the only ones there are Atlassian and Google probably. Meta ain’t hiring.

It actually depends on a lot of things - like whether you like foreign more than India, if you can feel a sense of belonging or is it immaterial, do you have a need of having known people/friends around and if yes do you have them in Sydney, etc. With this kind of salary, I would not think of moving out, though😁

Not an imposition but even if your salary increases to 75 L the quality of life is going to remain the same and at some point of time it would be frustrating because you may pay 7 figure tax and still won't be able to enjoy driving your Audi or BMW on Indian roads. Or go for that classy vacation without worrying about an unmanaged crowd. Take a leap. Move around the world. And eventually retire in India if you like.

Very convincing argument there!!

What about your parents and in laws, who will take care of them?

This is exactly the point that holds one back especially moving abroad. If you move for a few years, it's manageable but not for eternity.

Think about the quality of education your kid gets in both the places. You make good income already. It might increase but doesn't decrease anyway.

The quality of education is debatable and I don't have a clear answer.

Syd would've public schools - good education and less stressful vs India. In India, pvt schools - not worried about expenses but stressful and intense competition. However, kids in India have much more competitive edge IMO

Not worth it. Stay in India & travel the world. I think you can easily manage it.

Where did you move? And what made you return within a year?

If your intention of going to Oz is to make money then it won't help.

The idea is you should be ready to live in Aus like an Aussie then it is worth going there.

Don't be someone who goes there ans craves for Indian food biriyani ans searches for templs and misses relatives. And looks for Indian communit

If you are getting good salary, move out. The major difference will be better living conditions, Good health facilities and other public facilities which you will never get in india in near future
