Motivation to work
Does everyone actually care about what they do?
Do you actually feel happy when company does well?
Does it actually hurt when a company does badly?

I think it is personal. Some people care, some don’t, and for some it doesn’t matter. I have worked for a company I didn’t give a fuck about because I knew even the founder didn’t care, he was just in there to make money and exit. I was miserable and very demotivated in that company.
I have personally realized that I work and feel best when I care about the purpose of the company. The downside is that poor work life balance and maybe if I get the axe, I will feel terrible, but I am okay with that.
Figure out what works for you and gets the best out of you.

The care guys have equity and esops. Rest of us don't care

Used to care, still got laid off because of reasons out of my control. Don’t care anymore at next role, but obviously don’t show that to colleagues

I showed this survey to a lot of people. And they were surprised to see 21% care.
According to them this should be much less.

What do you think differentiates folks who care vs folks who don't? Purely incentives?
